What kind of data do we collect?

When booking a car, you are requested to provide your name, address details, phone number, e-mail address, credit card details, other information require for payment as well as your loyal customer information. In addition, we may collect details about you when you visit our website, for instance, and from external sources, provided that you have given your consent to using them or we have legal grounds for processing them. We record this data in the Avis-Budget rental system and other systems and databases we need for providing services.

What do we need the data for?

Helkama Rent maintains and processes your personal data for the following purposes:
 
  • booking and delivering car rental services
  • contacts and communications at different phases of a rental transaction
  • payment transactions related to agreed rental services
  • handling customer feedback
  • improving the quality of services
  • maintaining loyal customer programmes and customer relationships

Data disclosure

Avis-Budget chain companies around the world transmit car rental bookings from one company to another. In this context, they collect and transmit the above-mentioned data to the Avis-Budget company that provides the rental service.
 
We do not disclose your data to third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling. When outsourcing services and operations, we use subcontractors and partners that are committed to acting in accordance with the currently valid legislation. In connection with traffic violations, for instance, we are under an obligation to disclose to the authorities any data they request.

You have the following rights with regard to your data:
 
  • the right to access the data we have stored
  • the right to request us to rectify inaccurate and incomplete data
  • the right to object to the processing of your personal data if you feel that it has been processed unlawfully
  • the right to prohibit the use of the data in direct marketing
  • the right to request the erasure of the data if the processing of the data is not necessary
 
We process the erasure request and erase the data if there are legimate grounds for erasure or we provide the grounds on which the processing of the data is necessary. If there are statutory grounds or a statutory obligation for processing your personal data, we have the right to refrain from erasing the data you requested. Such data includes, for instance, accounting-related materials. We erase them pursuant to the provisions of the Accounting Act.
